Grumpy in Baltimore at Bouchercon ...

Let's see ... Baltimore ... the northernmost Southern City? The pan handlers haven't gone south for the winter yet.

Had really bad (boring, bland, and heavy) Italian Food (Amicci's) last night. Chateau (Waltham) is way better, Bertucci's is better, heck Olive Garden may even be better.

At least dinner Friday night was better - Jack's Bistro and they had Southern Tier Pumking on tap! And they had the ST Creme Brulle by the bottle, but a 22oz bottle would be a lot since smozz probably wouldn't have had much.

The business meeting dissed Mike Willmoth. They decided Bouchercon 2010 would be in San Francisco at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadarro at $249+tax+parking per night with a $175 or so registration fee to start. Rather than Mike's bid for the Tempe Mission Palms at $196+tax includng parking per night with a $120 or so registration fee to start. Yeah, Mike might not have had as many hotel rooms in the main hotel, but I still think it could have been handled better. And I haven't even mentioned that The Hyatt Regency Embarcadarro is in a business district that is likely to be dead on weekends rather than downtown Tempe. Kind of like the fact that nothing is open around this Sheraton - the Starbucks in the lobby of the Radisson next door is even only open 7-12 noon on Saturday and Sunday!

Oh and the Sheraton we are at, used to be a Wyndham, and really isn't up to Sheraton standards. I can hear the street noise 23 floors up (so I haven't been sleeping well, even with earplugs). The club lounge is closed on weekends. The free internet doesn't work, so I'm paying, and so on.
