I took a boat tour run (IIRC) by the Boston Harbor Association to Spectacle Island yesterday. This is the one that used to be the landfill and was capped using the excess fill from the big dig. The island has a really nice view of the Boston skyline. They also have a really nice visitor center. Unfortunately Mass Highway isn't finished with the rest of the "improvements" to the island yet, so it isn't really open to the public yet. I just love state government - spend N million on a visitors center, but don't open it to the public because you haven't put the guardrails along the walks or something like that.
