Time Event
Old Theatres (was Thank You For Smoking)
SMOZZ and I saw "Thank You For Smoking" at the Sebasitini Theatre (http://www.sebastianitheatre.com/) in Sonoma, CA tonight. We're actually staying in Rohnert Park and could have seen it in about 3 Megaplexes which were closer, but the timing in Somona was better and old theatres are just neat. I was thinking that it's really a shame that Boston doesn't have a neat old theatre which hasn't been carved up (both West Newton and Arlington have been carved up into several smaller screens) but I guess it does have the Somerville Theatre (or has that been carved up into two screens also?). I actually find the Circle one of the more interesting theatres in Boston in that it actually has 2 screens with balconies. Unfortunately, I suspect the Circle is not long for this world and will soon be replaced by condos or something. The other place I really like in greater Boston is the Premium Cinema in Framingham (food, full bar, no one under 21, stadium seating, reserved seating, popcorn and soda included - of course it does cost $18 per person).

Another one of my favorite old theatres is the Lynnwood on Bainbridge Island, WA (http://www.lynwoodtheatre.com/). I saw "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada" there last month.

It's interesting how both of those movies poke fun at American Society in different ways. I highly recommend both movies ("Thank You For Smoking" and "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada"). If you like more mainstream movies, I recommend "Inside Man".
