Israel vs. Lebanon
I almost hesitate to say this for fear of starting off a flame war.
First let me say that I support both Israel and Palestine (and Lebanon) in their right to exist and their quest for peace.
I'm still in the UK, so I'm getting a little different news than people in the US are probably getting.
Even CNN is reporting the Israel is using Phosphorus in bombs which are hitting civilians. This is clearly against the spirit of the Geneva convention. If the US allows Israel to continue doing this, we are just asking for the wrath of all the Arab world on the us.
It appears that even Blair is getting ready to break with the bullshit that Bush is spitting out. (Most of the rest of Europe already has.) I hope Blair does soon too. For the UK's sake. It was just a little more than a year ago that the London train bombings took place. I don't want to see them repeated.
If Israel wanted to solve this (Lebanon / Hezbollah) problem, they could have declared war on Hezbollah, announced that they were going to start bombing in a day / week / fortnight whatever and given the civilians a chance to evacuate.
As it stands now, it appears that Israel is just beating up on Lebanon. This is kind of like burning down the bully's house and killing all the bully's (innocent) siblings.
