Take that DVD ...
Picked up a copy of Folk City 25th Anniversary Concert on LD (Laser Disk) for almost free. (Like a couple of bucks as opposed to $50 on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Folk-City-Greenwich-Village-USA/dp/B004MSR6H6/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1299702458&sr=1-2)
This is another example of why I keep my LD players. AFAICT it was never released on DVD and probably never will be.
It is interesting contrasting Roger McGuinn's performance of "Turn, Turn, Turn" then (1987) with his performance at the Pete Seger 90th Birthday Tribute (2009). I think I like the later performance better. Maybe because I was there or maybe because of better accompaniment.
Some of the other stuff is interesting. (I don't remember hearing Tom Paxton doing "Yuppies in the Sky" before, but I must have.) And some of the stuff is just weird. (Like Melanie singing Folk "Rock n' Roll Heart".)
Next up is Richie Havens doing "Freedom" which will be another interesting comparison to 20+ years later. Or 20+ years before if I can find the original performance (at Woodstock). Current Mood: nostalgic
