Wecome Kimi ...
We've been looking for a new companion for Arthur for a while. After visiting several shelters over the last several weeks, we went to the Animal Rescue League shelter in Boston yesterday and met Kimi.
Introducing Kimi ...( Pic behind the cut ...Collapse )
She seems to be settling in well. At this point she and Arthur are segregated with her having the top floor (including guest room) and front hall and Arthur having the rest of the house. They have starred / sniffed each other through the french door a number of times with no hissing so far (knock on wood). At one point we picked them both up and held them nose to nose for maybe a minute until Kimi thought Arthur was getting too friendly and went to swat at him. We will probably continue this and swap spaces or something for a couple of days.
She is a 4 (almost 5) year old DSH who was adopted from ARL as a kitten and returned in October because of a new landlord who wouldn't allow pets. She is actually about 9 months older than Arthur (12/12/2007 versus 9/19/2008). We were trying for a slightly younger female but as she is smaller than Arthur we hope everything will be OK. I would say she is probably about 11 pounds. (Arthur is 16 at last check.)
