Amuse-bouche, not ...

So, last night smozz and I decided to try Bambara at the Hotel Marlowe. While the food was pretty standard "new American cuisine" (i.e. yuppie fare), the service was really marginal. It was not very attentive. We had a coupon for 5% off. We had to remind the server about it two or three times before he got the manager to take it off. What is worse is that he bought a sample of one of the soups as an "amuse" without our asking and we were charged $1.00 each for this. Now $2.00 isn't much, but that is a new one on me. We didn't bother questioning the charge but just took it out of the server's tip. Needless to say, we are not running back there.

P.S. Well, maybe I lied a little. We were staying at the Marlowe (21st anniversary and all that jazz; home now), so we decided to brave Bambara again for breakfast. Food was fine (if somewhat overpriced hotel breakfast prices), but guess what? I had to remind them twice that my Hash and Eggs was supposed to come with an English Muffin and it arrived like 5 or 10 minutes after the second reminder. At least the jam was tasty. But silly us.
